Tamás Czopf was born in Hungary during a time when faith was politically suppressed. Nevertheless, he found his way to the church early on—a path that eventually led him to Bavaria, where he now serves as a Catholic priest in Starnberg.
Father Dr. Czopf is a theologian and pastor. He accompanies people through the most defining moments of their lives—at baptisms, weddings, and when saying goodbye to the deceased. He plays the cello, tends to roses in his garden, and in this portrait, faces questions that go far beyond his official role.
Because Dr. Czopf has experienced the finiteness of life firsthand. A heart attack brought him to the edge—and back.
This conversation is about heritage and calling, the crisis of the Catholic Church, art, music, and beauty. And about the big, uncomfortable questions: What happens after death? Where is God in the face of suffering and injustice? And what does faith mean in a time when more and more people are leaving the church?
An open, respectful conversation between an atheist and a priest—about what moves us all.
